The technical characteristics of LUSITANIA are detailed below:
Computing nodes:
- 2 HP Integrity SuperDome SX2000 with 64 dual-core processors each (128 processors / 256 cores), Itanium2 Montvale @ 1.6 GHz, 18 MB cache.
- 2 x 1TB RAM per node = 2TB RAM (one image).
- 2 x 40 x 146GB SAS disks = 2 x 3,6TB for scratch space in RAID 5.
- Operative system Suse Linux Entreprise Server 11 (with the possibility of simultaneously running Windows Server, HP-UX, Red Hat, SLES, etc.).
- High availability.
- Up to 16 physical partitions and 64 virtual partitions.

- 4 x HP Integrity rx2660 : 4 cores Intel Itanium-2 dual-core Montvale (1,6Ghz/18MB “cache built in chip”); 16GB DDR-2 RAM; 6 x 146GB SAS disks.

- 2 x HP Proliant DL380-G5 : 8 cores Intel Xeon Quad-Core E5450 (3.0 GHz, 1333 FSB, 80W); 8 GB FBD DDR-2 RAM; 2 x 146 GB SAS disks.

- 2 x HP Proliant DL-380-G7 with 2 Intel Xeon E5630 processors (2,53GHz/4-core/12MB), with 32GB and 64GB RAM per server, and 2 x 146 GB SAS disks per server.
- 1 x HP Proliant DL-380-G5 with 2 Intel Xeon E5450 processors with 16GB RAM and 2 x 146GB SAS disks.
- 2 x HP ProLiant BL465c Gen8 with 2 AMD Opteron 6366 HE (1,8GHz/8-core/16MB), 128 GB de memoria RAM y dos discos duros SAS de 300 GB por servidor. Estos servidores pertenecen al proyecto FI4VDI (Desarrollo de una red de infraestructuras federadas para la generación de servicios de virtualización de puestos de trabajo), correspondiente al Programa Interreg IV B SUDOE, financiado por el Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional (FEDER).
- 2 x HP ProLiant BL465c Gen8 with 2 AMD Opteron 6276 processors (2,3GHz/8-core/16MB), 256 GB RAM and 2 x 300 GB SAS disks per server. These servers and the Intel Cluster Studio for Linux software included in them belong to the SIATDECO (RITECA II) project, which is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Spain-Portugal Cross-Border Cooperation Operational Program (POCTEP) 2007-2013.
- 4 x HP ProLiant BL460c G6 with 2 Intel Xeon E5540 processors (2,53GHz/4-core/8MB), 24GB RAM and 2 x 146GB SAS disks per server. These servers belong to the FI4VDI project (Development of a federated infrastructure network for the generation of workplace virtualization services), corresponding to the Interreg IV B SUDOE Program, financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
- 4 x HP ProLiant BL465c Gen8 with 2 AMD Opteron 6376 processors (2,3GHz/16-core/16MB), 128GB RAM and 2 x 300GB SAS disks per server.
- 1 x Fujitsu Server PRIMERGY RX350 S8, with 2 Intel Xeon E5 2620v2 processors (2,10GHz/6 cores/15MB), 256GB RAM and 2 x 300GB SAS disks. This server belong to the MITTIC project (Modernization and Technological Innovation based on ICT in strategic and traditional sectors), which is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Spain-Portugal Cross-Border Cooperation Operational Program (POCTEP) 2007-2013.
Computing accelerator units
- 2 x HP ProLiant WS460c G6 Workstation Blade with HP BL460c G7 Intel Xeon E5645 processors (2.40GHz/6-core/12MB), 96GB RAM per server, 4 x 300GB SAS disks and 2 NVIDIA Tesla M2070Q (448 cuda cores and 6GB GDDR5). These servers belong to the SIATDECO (RITECA II) project, which is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Spain-Portugal Cross-Border Cooperation Operational Program (POCTEP) 2007-2013.
- 1 x Intel Xeon Phi Co-Processor 3120P. Storage
- Red Fiberchannel network with active-active multipathing (8 ports x 4 drivers).
- 2 x EVAs 8100 x [(208 FATA disks x 1TB) + (128 FC disks x 450GB)] = 265,6TB.
- 2 x DL380-G5 NAS servers running distributed filesystem HP StorageWorks PolyServe.
HP 3PAR StoreServ 7200 x (14 SAS disks 10k x 900GB) = 11,5TB. This storage unit belongs to FI4VDI project (Development of a federated infrastructure network for the generation of workplace virtualization services), corresponding to the Interreg IV B SUDOE Program, financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
Backup
- Backup system over tape library HP Storageworks EML 245e.
- Capacity for 245 tapes with LTO-4 Ultrium 1840 technology, offering a 2:1 compression 392 TB capacity.
- Management and unattended planning backup HP StorageWorks DataProtector.
Network topology
The Center's connectivity to the outside worlds is provided through a 10Gbps connection to the Extremadura Scientific and Technological Network, which connects the region's main cities and technology centers. It is also interconnected with RedIRIS and the European network GÉANT.
Internally, the service and computing infrastructure is structured around:
- Two Fortinet Fortigate 1000C firewalls as a perimeter security system, with 10Gbps connections, firewall capacity, VPN, antivirus, intrusion detection, and bandwidth management per connection, configured as a high-performance active-passive redundant cluster with high processing capacity.
- Two Radware AppDirector load balancers, with application load balancing capabilities and remote management capabilities, in an active-passive redundant cluster configuration.
- Two HP ProCurve 5406ZL core switches with 10Gbps switching capacity for the computer network and 1Gbps interfaces for the administration and user networks. They have 48 Ethernet ports and 4 fiber channels each.
- Two interconnection switches for the user and server network, an HP ProCurve 2626 and an HP ProCurve 2810-24G, to enable the other servers and users to connect to the service networks.
